After driving home from work the other day, listening to the radio as you do, on came the news. Minutes in to the broadcast, I was completely outraged to hear that the Government are introducing new fines of up to £1000 for having an uninsured vehicle. Surely if the vehicle is not in use but is taxed, why can’t it be kept on a road or private driveway?
What if, you go on holiday and forget your car insurance is due whilst your away, you’ll come home to a £1000 fine. Now that’s not the welcome home we all expect after a relaxing holiday in the sunshine! The only way to avoid getting a fine is to declare the vehicle SORN with the Driver And Vehicle License Agency but MUST be kept off road. Any vehicles still left on the roadside would still be clamped or seized.
